2010 Finalists are now listed. You can cast your vote for the “Readers Best” award by using the “Rate this post” function under each photograph. Rating a photo casts a vote. The rating itself does not matter. The photo with the highest number of votes will get the ‘Readers Best’ award of Rs.5000.

The 2009 IndiaShots.com contest winners have been selected and announced. The winners announcement date has been preponed by a full month as we were able to take a decision regarding the winners earlier than we anticipated.

Some statistics from the 2009 contest;
The 2009 IndiaShots.com contest received about 4000 entries
688 entries were accepted and published.

The 2010 contest will begin on 15th August 2009. The 2010 contest categories will remain the same but there will be an increase in prize money. Some of the navigational issues that have plagued this website for some time, should be sorted out before the next contest begins. Hopefully the 2010 contest attracts a larger number of contestants.

Finalists for the 2009 IndiaShots.com contest have been selected. 10 photos from each of the 5 contest categories have been selected and can be seen within the “Finalists” group. Visitors to the IndiaShots.com website can now rate photos from among the 50 photos inside the Finalists group for the “Reader’s Best Award“.

How Do I Vote?
Voting can be done by Rating a photo using the Ratings tool available underneath each photo. First go to the Finalists group, then rate each photo or any photo that you like. At the end of the voting period, the photo with the highest numbers of ratings gets the “Reader’s Best” award.

Voting closes on June 30. On the 1st of July, the winner of the “Reader’s Best” award will be announced.

One category winner from each of the 5 categories will be announced on the 1st of July for a total of 5 category awards. The category winners will be selected from shortlisted candidates from each category and who can now be seen in the “Finalists” group. The category winners will be selected by contest judges.

In the event of a tie among ratings, judges will decide the winner. The decision will be final.

Submissions are no longer being accepted for the 2009 contest. The next contest begins on 15th Aug. 2009

IndiaShots is an online photo contest focused on India and her people. The objective is to present the distinctive culture and beauty of India to the world and also to see India as seen by you.

IndiaShots encourages photos with spontaneity, clarity, composition and your ability to capture a distinctive moment. Technical ability, while important, is not the primary criteria for a winning shot. Show us your passion for photography and your ability to see more than the ordinary.

31st May Contest Update:
Submissions are no longer being accepted for the 2009 IndiaShots.com contest.

On 15th June, 10 finalists in each contest category will be selected and visitors to the IndiaShots.com website will be able to vote for the “Readers Best” award from these 50 finalists.

The photo with the highest number of votes on 30th of June, will receive the “Readers Best” award of Rs. 5000.

Additionally, 1 winner will be selected by the judges from EACH of the 5 contest categories for a “Best of Category” award of Rs. 2500.

All 5 “Best of Category” award winners and the “Readers Best” award winner will be notified on 1st July 2009. All winning entries will be published on IndiaShots.com.

IndiaShots.com 2010 contest will begin 15th August 2009.
